The objective of the PMINYC Academic Outreach program is to advance the practice and profession of project management by providing programs, resources, and support to academic and research institutions throughout the greater New York City area. Our focus is with those who have demonstrated an interest in project management tools, methodologies and practices. There are two tracks or areas of focus for the Academic Outreach.
Track 1 - institutional Integration involves the effective communication of the mission, vision, and objectives of PMI and the NYC Chapter to ensure universities and colleges are aware of PMI academic standards. This track's objectives include:
- Assisting in the development and implementation of programs and curriculum that include PMI academic standards and other related knowledge, in collaboration with interested faculty and experienced PM professionals.
- Supporting individual project management research efforts within the academic community.
- Jointly sponsoring project management knowledge-sharing meetings or panel discussions.
Track 2 – Student Collaboration creates awareness and connections to students of all ages with an emphasis in higher education to offer the following:
- Mentoring and networking opportunities.
- Discount chapter memberships to students.
- Student scholarship program
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Credential awareness
We are excited about the scholastic associations and partners we have built bridges to from the NYCPMI chapter. And we are ready to take things to the next level. We need your help to achieve these objectives. If you are an individual with foresight, insight, the ability to build bridges and teams, please let us hear from you. We are excited about getting this program on the map!
