Can AI Step into the Shoes of Scrum Masters and Project Managers?

Have you ever wondered if AI could step into the shoes of a scrum master or project manager?

If yes, join us for our next Lunch & Learn webinar to see if AI can really be one based on lessons learned from an experiment done by agile community member Oscar-Timothy Okolo. In this session, Oscar will demonstrate how to run this experiment using sample data.

Project management tools such as Jira, Asana, and Azure DevOps (ADO) store extensive data on teams, sprints, and various key metrics that significantly influence discussions and decisions within agile teams. Typically, we humans tend to rely more on surface-level observations and what we perceive in meetings, overlooking the depth of available data. Recognizing this gap, he became curious about how incorporating this comprehensive data into our analyses might alter perceptions and decisions.

To explore this, Oscar decided to integrate all this information into an AI system to evaluate its performance. Since his initial attempt, he’s continued to enrich the AI with more data. He’s convinced that the insights generated by this AI tool could be highly beneficial for agile practitioners, offering new perspectives and enhancing decision-making processes.

Summary: Building on the understanding of story points, this session explores the innovative concept of AI performing as a Scrum Master. Drawing from an experiment where AI was fed data from Jira and other tools, we'll dissect its feasibility, challenges, and implications.

Objectives:

  • Demonstrate how this experiment works with sample data using ChatGPT
  • Outline the methodology and setup of the AI Scrum Master experiment.
  • Present findings from different scenarios, such as sprint planning and daily stand-ups.
  • Analyze the AI's effectiveness in interpreting data, predicting issues, and offering improvements.
  • Discuss the impact of AI on team dynamics, productivity, and overall project success.
  • Explore ethical considerations, potential limitations, and the future role of AI in Agile project management.
