In the ancient days of quality control, when we needed humans to "DO" rather than "THINK" to get a product to market, governance might have been the perfect solution. But today Governance is the enemy.

Eliminating governance means that PMO’s need a new playbook. And, just renaming them Agile Management Office isn’t going to do it. Executives are realizing they don’t need governance, but they do need Program and Portfolio Leaders that can effectively rob from the rich and give to the poor projects so that all of their business-critical initiatives make it to market within the financial constraints.

There are 25 million meetings per day in the U.S. yet 50% of meetings are a waste of time. And worse, more than $37 billion per year is wasted on unproductive meetings. A good meeting moves teams forward to deliver the necessary and expected outcomes. here's the rub, good meetings don't just happen. You can't wing it. They must be led. In this talk, we'll unveil the art of leading meetings that gets stuff done.

Our ideas about accountability have been ingrained in us since childhood. When we reach for the hot stove, our hand gets slapped. And as we grow older, we think of accountability as punishment. But that's not what it should be.

The truth is, accountability stifles autonomy and promotes negative reinforcement. It's the opposite of leadership. People want to do a good job and win, but being cynical about that fact only breeds distrust.

Learning outcomes from the workshop:

   - Learn how to define a Project with Smartsheet and get BUY-IN effectively.

   - Learn why approval is NOT the same as BUY-IN.

   - Work with a breakout group to develop CRISP Assumptions, Risks, and Constraints

     that aren’t BS.

   - Learn how to use Smartsheet to plan a project and eliminate 99% of the avoidable Risk.

If Projects always went according to plan, Project Leaders would have nothing to do. They would be able to lead projects forward in two hours per week. At team check ins, members would give universal thumbs-ups, and Project Leaders would publish status reports with nothing but good news. Since that never happens, it’s time to admit;

      "RISKS & ISSUES ARE NOT JUST FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS".

After this workshop participants will be able to:

   - Receive the presentation deck and an E-Book.

   - Apply the ten "Negotiator's Rules".

The 2-day S@SP course teaches the responsibilities of the Product Owner, Scrum Master, individual Scrum teams, and enterprise leadership in a variety of large-scale contexts.
