What You Will Learn

This extremely informative webinar will look at one of the least talked about skills that a project manager should have. Despite the profession of project management being recognized as a potentially stressful profession, the ability to look after your own well-being is not seen as an essential skill that a project manager should have.  A project manager is told that they must have a great blend of technical skills such as financial acumen, scheduling ability, and quantitative risk management. They are also encouraged to develop their soft skills such as communication leadership, stakeholder management, etc. But the common element with all of these soft skills is that they are outward-facing. A key skill that a project manager needs to learn is an inward-facing soft skill, and that is the ability to look after their own wellbeing. However, by looking after your own well-being you can ensure you are performing at your professional and personal best.

This webinar will give applicable tips, tricks, and techniques to enhance all aspects of your well-being, including exercise, nutrition, and emotional well-being. It will also draw on the science of positive psychology to give you a strength-based set of tools to build your resilience and enhance your wellbeing.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is for PMINYC mentors. (If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please go to www.pminyc.org/mentoring and complete the mentoring application, or write to us at mentoring@pminyc.org.)

Speaker

Workshop Leader: Sean Whitaker

Sean Whitaker is a well-respected project management consultant and lecturer with over 25 years of experience in a diverse range of industries. He has all the usual credentials and experience in providing global consulting and teaching and project management. He has also been a longtime volunteer with the Project Management Institute. In addition to all of this, he has personally seen the firsthand effects of burnout and not looking after your well-being so he embarked on his own journey to discover what it means to truly look after your well-being. As part of this journey, he became a certified health coach and a certified personal trainer. Sean will be sharing what he has learned about resilience and well-being and how it can make you a better project manager. When not sharing his passion for the profession of project management, Sean spends his time in New Zealand teaching his 16-month-old son to not share his food with their 5-month-old puppy.
