Construction SIG - An insider's guide to what really happens before a commercial real estate project is announced.

Webinar - details will be sent to registrants

Welcome to the Construction Special Interest Group (SIG)

Many PMINYC members manage projects in engineering, construction, real estate development, and allied industries. Until now the chapter never had a group focusing on our construction community. Therefore, we are launching the PMINYC Construction SIG to serve our construction industry members, organize chapter events around construction project management, and develop a community for construction professionals.

What You Will Learn

In his presentation, construction management expert Randy Thompson will share his strategic, tactical, and operational insights to guide the audience through the multi-stage processes and complex business decisions required for a construction project’s inception. Randy will discuss fundamental, foundational work such as:

  • Business process requirements and functional needs of various building types (industrial, distribution, office, etc.)
  • Logistics planning to determine where a building will be sited
  • Surfacing incentives and the processes needed to maximize funding based on job types the project will attract
  • Build-to-suit projects versus speculative development
  • Capital considerations: lease versus own versus joint-venture
  • Contractual structures: fixed fee, open book GMP, shared savings
