Are you passionate to inspire the Next Generation and Become a Middle School Future City Judge?
The Future City® Competition is for students in grades 6–8 who are interested in STEM. The challenge for the 2026 competition is to farm to table and design a city that eliminates food waste from farm to table and keeps citizens healthy and safe. Students can participate from their school, a homeschool environment, or a youth organization. More than 45,000 students annually in the US, Canada, China, Egypt and Nigeria.

Judging is a rewarding way to give back, connect with bright students, and celebrate innovation.We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support PMINYC’s mission by assisting with [specific area — e.g., events, communications, membership, outreach, etc.]. This role is ideal for professionals who want to build leadership experience, expand their network, and give back to the local project management community. Judges for the regional event will evaluate student presentations, models, and Q&A on that date. This is the key in-person judging date for the New York City region. All scoring rubrics and training will be provided by Discove Engineering.

The Discover Engineering Future City Regional Competition for NYC Middle School is on January 17, 2026, and volunteers should plan to be available for most of that day (typically 6 hours) for judging, special awards evaluation, or general event support. Participants may be eligible to earn Giving Back PDUs for their volunteer service in accordance with PMI’s Talent Triangle® guidelines.
