What You Will Learn
This workshop will discuss the second phase of the effective mentoring lifecycle, “Building the Relationship and Negotiating Agreement.”
We will discuss the importance of first getting to know each other in the mentoring partnership, exploring each other’s experiences, and building trust. Best practices will be offered for arranging logistics, setting expectations, giving and receiving feedback, as well as any limitations and preferences, such as communication style and frequency, that should be established to help set the cadence of your relationship.
We will also discuss how to use two tools: a “First Meeting Tool” to help you make your first mentoring session productive and a “Mentoring Agreement” to help you and your mentee define the ground rules for your partnership.
Participants will receive a free workbook containing these techniques and tools. Future workshops will cover subsequent phases of the mentoring lifecycle.
